A Yamaguchi-based company, Ogori Shōji ;s clothing shops called &#;s Shop OS&# in Ube, Yamaguchi. In May ;Unique Clothing Warehouse&#;unique clothing&#, during administration work in Hong Kong for registering the brand, staff in charge of registration misread the &#; as &#;, and that is how the brand name was born. Tadashi Yanai then changed the store name to &#; across Japan. In September ;Ogori Shōji&#;Fast Retailing&#, there were over 100 Uniqlo stores operating throughout Japan.
